You should be very excited about this recipe — mostly because the result is delicious, but also because you’ll probably never have to search for another smoothie recipe again.
So, let me tell you how to make the ultimate choc-peanut-banana smoothie recipe.
Ingredients (x3 Smoothies)
- 3 bananas (overripe is okay)
- 1/2 cup oats
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 2 tbsp honey
- 750ml cold water/milk
- Scoop of yoghurt (optional)
Instructions
- Take the oats and throw them in the blender. Blitz on high speed for about 10 seconds to grind them down so they’re much finer.

- Once your oats are blended, you can throw in all of the other ingredients: bananas, cocoa powder, peanut butter, honey, and — if you have it and want to add it — the yoghurt. Then pour in your cold water/milk. The more you put in, the more watery your smoothie will be; the less you add, the thicker it’ll turn out.

- Now that everything is in, pop the lid on and blitz at high speed for about a minute.
- Turn the blender off and you’ll find a swirling deliciousness ready to pour into cups and share.
- There you have it — divine, delicious, and simply yummy choc-peanut-banana smoothies!!
Variation Recommendations
Now, there are a few different things you can throw in to change this smoothie up a bit:
Chia Seeds
These will add even more protein to it and will help the oats fill you up as well.
Protein Powder
This is a really great option if you don’t have yoghurt or just want to get a good load of protein in. I find it actually makes it taste even better sometimes.

Berries
Okay, so we pretty much never have berries — frozen or otherwise — but if you have them, totally chuck them in!
Ice
Yeah, throw ice in! It’ll make the smoothies nice and cold, which means all the yummier.

All right, now you have the famous choc-peanut-banana smoothie recipe for whenever you’re feeling like a good breakfast or a mid-morning/afternoon snack. I make these smoothies almost every morning, which usually means making them for most of the family too, but they’re my absolute favourite!
